About Ambic 2018-09-13T13:52:30+00:00

The company began in 1983 as a one man business in the Enterprise Workshops at Byker with a 320 sq. ft unit, a bag of tools, a £200 overdraft and the intention of manufacturing drawing office equipment and similar furniture.

In February 2007 Ambic secured the purchase of a five-acre development site alongside the Stella Gill Industrial Estate in Pelton Fell, Chester-le-Street, Co Durham. A new factory was designed and built with production transferred in September 2009.

The business now occupies 24,000 sq ft (2,400 sq m) on the 5 acre site with major external storage, vehicle manoeuvring area and extensive expansion space. This facility is a state of the art fully integrated production unit utilising the latest technology and CNC controlled manufacturing methods. The factory is fully integrated with the raw materials of wood, metal, plastics, paint, fasteners etc. delivered to the northern end and fully finished furniture being loaded at the southern end.

We built our reputation largely with the schools and universities in the north east by manufacturing stylish, robust and long-lasting furniture and fittings. We also supply the care industry with specialist furniture for special needs and laboratory furniture for schools, universities and industry.

At Ambic we pride ourselves on our service and relationships with clients, it’s why our customers come back to us time and time again for their project requirements. Our ability to deliver on projects to deadlines is a top priority for us and we’ll do so without compromising on quality or door integrity.

Our product experts and designers have combined industry experience of over 60 years, there isn’t anything they don’t know about doorset manufacture, fire and acoustic specification requirements and ever changing regulatory standards in building safety.

While we can just about make any type or configuration of doorset, typically we produce doors in fully hung or knock-down frames, single or double swing action, in flush or glazed door configurations, glazed screens & fanlight configurations. We supply sets with or without architrave, extension sections, side screens and much more. We also regularly supply joinery-type panelled fire doors.

Off the shelf doorsets vary hugely in terms of quality, longevity and reliability, if a door has been mass produced, it means high volume production with minimal cost. All Ambic doorsets are assembled in our state of the art facility by master craftsmen using the best quality materials available to your exact specification. We simply won’t compromise on quality because that’s how we’ve made our reputation, our doorsets leave our factory fully tested, quality assured and guaranteed to last a long, long time.
